Article: Gakem Clan Head Drums support for Cross River Super Highway.

The Clan Head of Gakem Community, one of the major host community of the Cross River Super Highway, Chief Opah Ushie  recently mobilized youths and other stakeholders in drumming support for the full implementation of the 260km Super Highway linking calabar to the Northern part of the country. Having lost its oil wells to Akwa Ibom upon the loss of Bakassi, the Governor had promised to devise new strategies that will fast track the process of reconstructing new means of production by consolidating on the tourism and agricultural potentials of the state. The Governor also promised that amongst his signature projects, the Super Highway will specifically serve as an evacuation corridor between the South South part of the country and Northern Nigeria. Amidst criticisms of the negative impacts of the road to the environment especially the National Park and the perceived abandonment of the already existing Federal Highway, The Clan Head stated that as a tourism state, new infrastructure was needed to lure in investment into the State..The Gakem Youth President, Mr Peter Olofu also confirmed the youth support for the project. The Special Adviser to the Governor on Community Relations, Hon. Signur Omang Idiege was on ground to witness the special rally organized by the Clan Head in support of the project. Fingers are already pointing to the newly appointed SSA to the Governor on Communication and Branding,, Mr Dorncklaimz Enamhe for his diplomatic approach towards connecting the people to the creative and visionary works of our Digital Governor, Governor Ben Ayade.
